Fundraising and God's Faithfulness
Let's face it, raising money for a mission trip is not easy. It takes ample amounts of patience, trust, and faith that the Lord is going to help us reach our goals. But if we are really honest with ourselves, that patience, trust, and faith is a little harder to hang on to when the deadline is coming up and you are still hundreds of dollars short. Can we admit that the anxiety starts to roll in? Most everyone who has done fundraising for a trip has experienced this at some point. Luke 12: 27-31 tells us,
Isn’t it incredible that God knows what we need? I think it’s funny that a lot of the time what we think we need is not the same as what God knows we need. Rather than seeking in order to gain, let us simply just seek Him. God keeps His promises. Hebrews 10:23 says,
Our hope is in Jesus, that He is who He says He is. There is no need to stress about your trip. If we are focused on Him, He will take care of us. His timing and provision may be different than what we want or expect but it will come. Instead of being an anonymous check in the mail, maybe it will come through a food donation from friends, allowing you to save money instead of buying food. It could come through an opportunity to serve someone. Regardless of the specific way that God provides for you, let us trust in His Word that He will fulfill His promises.
"Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass, which is alive in the field today, and tomorrow is thrown in the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith! And do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, nor be worried. For all the nations of the world seek after these things, and your Father knows that you need them. Instead seek his Kingdom, and these things will be added to you."
